Our accreditation’s demonstrate our commitment to delivering the highest quality school meals to pupils in Southampton. We currently have two essential food and hospitality accreditation’s, and we continuously work to achieve the highest standards in food delivery and nutrition every year.

Food For Life - Bronze Award

We are proud of our Bronze Food for Life Award. It signifies the start of our journey to improve meals in schools across Southampton. Pupils in Food for Life schools are twice as likely to eat five a day and a third less likely to eat no fruit or vegetables than pupils in comparison schools. 45% of parents reported eating more vegetables and pupils are 40% more likely to say that they ‘like’ or ‘really like’ school meals.

City Catering Southampton has achieved the Bronze Award which means the majority of our schools meet the following standards.

The majority of our school meals are prepared from scratch

All meat is from farms which satisfy UK animal welfare standards

No Fish is served from the Marine Conservation Society ‘fish to avoid list’

Eggs are from free-range hens

No undesirable additives or artificial trans fats are used.

No genetically modified ingredients are used

Free drinking water is prominently available to pupils

Menus are seasonal and in-season products are highlighted for pupils

Information about food provenance is displayed to pupils

Menus provide for all dietary and cultural needs

Catering staff are supported with skills training and are engaged in food education

All suppliers have been verified to ensure they apply appropriate food safety standards

Our Hospitality Assured accreditation demonstrates our commitment to achieving the highest possible quality in what we do. Awarded by the Institute of Hospitality, it’s a worldwide standard that we challenge ourselves to win every year and in which we consistently score the highest possible rating for an organisation of our kind.
